Weeks 11 and 12
So it looks like every 2 weeks is how often I am able to blog. Life is so much busier now!
I guess I will start with Charlotte finding her hands. She has them in her mouth 24/7. I allow her to suck her fist but not actual fingers. It is a losing battle for sure. She loves to hold her own hands together. She thinks they are the coolest. She also is learning to put her paci in her mouth on her own. Its pretty remarkable. Because she has discovered her hands she now will hold toys and I almost cried when she held a toy this first time. It is just so cool to watch her learn and develop right before my eyes! She grabbed her toes for the first time last week too. I captured a pic : )
She is learning to sing herself to sleep. When she gets extra tired she will just kinda hum, sounds like whining but she is humming herself to sleep. So cute.
Speaking of sleeping, she is still doing well. Last night she did really well. She has been sleeping in her crib and last night she went down at 9pm, woke at 5am to eat, then 8am to eat and slept a little longer to 8:15am. I was a happy mama! She usually wakes between 4 and 5 and again at 6. I am really trying to break her from the 4am wake up and go straight to the 6. We also are going to try no swaddle tonight. Good thing I got that good sleep last night.
Charlotte had her first Thanksgiving! Scotty and I spent Thanksgiving with his family and my mom was able to come down for the week and spend the holiday with us. Charlotte loves when her Mimi comes - she gets LOTS of extra holding : ) Charlotte learned to roll from her belly to her back on Thanksgiving! Some of Scotty's family and mom and I usually do a 5K on Thanksgiving. Everyone else ended up going this year except mom and I and Charlotte. We were planning on it but that morning it was 26 degrees here and too cold for a little baby. That is very cold for SC at that time of year. Yesterday it was 82 degrees here. Go figure. No wonder everyone has a stuffy nose.
Stuffy nose. Charlotte had her first one. She did not have a fever and did not act like it bothered her but it was pretty stuffy. Then her special present on her 3 month birthday....pink eye! She woke up with one crusty eye that was pink and swollen. I called the doc and they wanted to see her and they gave me some drops. (She weighed in at 12.4lbs!) Once again she did not have a fever or act like it bothered her. Good thing I caught it because she was going to stay with a friend of ours while I went to work who has a 1 year old.
Work. Yeah. I'm not liking going back but it is what I have to do and it is nice to have adult interaction. I am so very blessed that my sisters-in-law and my friend Kendra are so nice to give up their time to watch Charlotte for me. It save us a ton of money and more importantly it gives me peace of mind. I am so thankful for them. However, this week Scotty has been home and he got to stay with Charlotte for an extended period of time for the first time. He text me on the second day after 5 hours. It said, "I don't know how you do this. I am pooped." Yes. He told me before that he thought all I did was stay home with her and take naps. Guess again Buddy. He now understands. Plus it is a lot different now that she requires so much more. She needs more help to go to sleep, she is taking less naps and they are short, and she wants to be entertained. He said that he loves spending time with her but could not understand why it was so tiring. I told him it is because your brain is always turned on. Even when she is sleeping you are anticipating the next move or worrying that she is ok. It was about 1:30 that afternoon when he text me and he said that it was the first chance he was getting to eat and sit down. Yep. Tough stuff Mr. Mom. He told me he has a lot more respect for what I do now. Moms are superhuman. Duh. He did find time though to put up the Christmas tree for us to decorate together when I got home. It was a nice surprise.
Well here are some pictures that I have forgotten to post and some videos. I have many more to post but I need to edit them first and a few are Christmas pictures that I want to post a little later closer to Christmas.
Til next time...
